"and so I go through these solitudes and wilds seeking adventures, resolved in spirit to oppose my arm and person to the most perilous that fortune may offer me

To start out we would recommend a trip around the villages in the area. Most conserve a rich heritage of architecture from the period of the muleteers: Quintanilla de Somoza, Santiago Millas and Castrillo de los Polvazares are good examples of this. En route, a visit to the local craftsmen is worthwhile: woodworking (flutes, castanets as well as furniture), blacksmiths' forges (knives), wool-weaving (blankets, jerseys). Also have a look at some routes on foot or by car which we suggest on this page. We also have Quads (four-wheeled motorbikes) for hire by prior arrangement and near here, in Santiago Millas, there are horses for hire.
